This Policy explains what Lumiinus Corporation (“Lumiinus,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects through our website (https://lumiinus.com) and the Lumiinus mobile app — and how we use, share, and protect it. We’ve tried to write it in plain English.

Summary

Lumiinus is a companion mobile app that helps pet owners scan stool and urine samples with their phone camera to look for signs of microscopic blood and related health indicators, paired with supporting cloud services. To make that work, we collect:

  • Account information — your phone number (for one-time-passcode sign-in), and a name and email you give us in your profile.

  • Pet and scan information — pet profile details you enter, symptoms you report, photos you capture during a scan, and the analysis results we return to you.

  • Diagnostics — basic crash and reliability context, and a small set of usage events so the app stays reliable.

What we deliberately do not collect:

  • Hardware device telemetry. Lumiinus is a software product. There is no separate camera hardware to pair, and we do not collect Wi‑Fi passwords, Bluetooth provisioning data, or device heartbeats from a dedicated camera.

  • Your precise location. We do not request or store GPS or device location.

  • Contacts or calendar. The app does not request access to your contacts or calendar.

We use a small number of trusted service providers and infrastructure providers (including Google / Firebase, Apple, and our cloud API hosting) to help us run the service.

Heads up. The product, the data we collect, and this Policy may evolve as we learn from users. We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when anything material changes.

Who we are

“Lumiinus,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Lumiinus Corporation, the company building the Lumiinus mobile app, website, and supporting cloud services. You can reach us at support@lumiinus.com for anything in this Policy.

Information we collect

Account information you give us

  • Phone number. We sign you in with a one-time passcode sent to your phone via Firebase Authentication. Your phone number is your account identifier.

  • Profile. First name, last name, and email address that you provide during onboarding or in your profile. You can update these in the app.

  • Optional profile flags. Information such as whether you identify as a veterinarian and, if you choose one, a linked veterinary clinic selection.

Pet and health-related information you provide

  • Pet profiles. Details you enter about your pets (for example name, species, age, breed, diet, outdoor status for cats, and pre-existing conditions).

  • Symptoms and context. Symptom selections, optional free-text notes (including text created from voice input), and related scan context such as litter box type for urine scans.

  • Scan images. When you run a scan, the app uses your phone’s camera to capture images of a stool or urine sample. Those images are uploaded to our cloud services for automated visual analysis.

  • Scan results and history. Analysis status, reports, scores or findings returned by our service, and history associated with your account so you can review prior scans in the app.

Information from your phone (the app)

  • Device permissions you grant.

  • Camera — to capture scan images.

  • Microphone — for voice guidance and voice input during scanning and symptom entry.

  • Speech recognition — to convert spoken symptoms or guidance-related speech into text.

  • Photo library — only if you choose to save scan results to your Photos.

  • Notifications — for scan updates, reminders, and similar alerts you enable.

  • These are requested only when needed and you can revoke them in your phone’s settings.

  • Push notification token. A device token used to deliver notifications through Apple Push Notification service / Firebase Cloud Messaging.

  • App and device context. Basic technical information such as app version, operating system version, device model, and similar diagnostics used for reliability and support.

  • App diagnostics and analytics. We use Firebase Analytics for a small set of usage events (for example app opened, sign-in completed, and similar product events). We may also collect crash or error context to keep the app reliable. You can limit some analytics through your device settings, and you can stop collection by uninstalling the app.

Information from payments (if you purchase credits)

  • If you buy scan credits or similar in-app purchases through the Apple App Store, Apple processes the payment. We receive transaction identifiers and related verification data needed to credit your account. We do not receive your full card number.

What we do not collect

  • Wi‑Fi passwords or Bluetooth pairing data. There is no hardware camera to provision.

  • Precise location. We do not collect, store, or process GPS or device location.

  • Contacts or calendar. The app does not request access to these.

  • Audio recordings stored as a product feature. Microphone access is used for guidance and speech-to-text during app use; we are not operating a continuous ambient audio recording product.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the service — sign you in, maintain your profile and pet profiles, run scans, deliver reports, send notifications you enable, and manage in-app purchases or credits.

  • Communicate with you about important service notices, support requests, and (rarely) optional product news. We won’t spam you.

  • Improve reliability by reviewing diagnostics and aggregate usage to find bugs and rough edges.

  • Protect the service from abuse, fraud, and security threats.

  • Comply with the law when we’re legally required to.

How we share information

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers and infrastructure providers to help us run the service. They handle data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments and include service providers such as:

  • Google / Firebase — Authentication (phone OTP), Firestore (account and related app data), Analytics, Remote Config, Cloud Messaging, and related Google Cloud infrastructure used to host or support our backend.

  • Our cloud API and storage — to receive scan images via secure upload, run analysis, store results, and serve reports to your account.

  • Apple — App Store distribution, push delivery, and in-app purchase processing when you buy credits.

We may also share information when legally required (such as to respond to a valid subpoena), to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Lumiinus, our users, or others. We may also share information in connection with a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy proceeding, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We hold information as long as it’s useful for the purpose it was collected, and as long as the law requires. In practice that means:

  • Account information — for the life of your account. After you delete your account, we retain information only as long as needed for legal, compliance, security, or other lawful business purposes.

  • Pet profiles, scans, images, and reports — typically until you delete them or delete your account, but we may retain them longer where needed for legal, compliance, security, or other lawful business purposes.

  • Diagnostics and analytics — kept for a limited period for troubleshooting and product improvement, then aged out or aggregated.

  • Purchase records — kept as needed to satisfy accounting, tax, refund, fraud-prevention, and App Store obligations.

Your rights and choices

Subject to local law, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can:

  • Update your profile from the app at any time.

  • Manage pets and review scan history in the app.

  • Control permissions (camera, microphone, speech, photos, notifications) in your phone’s settings.

  • Delete your account from the app Profile settings, or by writing to support@lumiinus.com. We will delete your account and associated data, except for records we are required to keep for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention reasons.

If you live in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. You can contact us first to try to resolve any concern directly.

Security

Information in transit between your phone and our cloud is secured, and we may deploy encryption where appropriate. Scan images and reports are stored in access-controlled cloud storage tied to your account. We follow standard industry practices, but no online service is ever 100% secure — if you spot a security issue please email support@lumiinus.com.

International users

Lumiinus Corporation is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

Children’s privacy

Lumiinus is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this Policy

We’ll update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top, and for material changes we’ll notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
